The XKR Cabrio took Jaguar’s X100 grand-tourer formula outdoors, combining the elegance of the XK with the added theatre of open-air driving. Its long bonnet, rounded body and low-slung profile retained the understated character of the coupé, while the folding roof changed the experience without turning the car into a radically different machine. For drivers who wanted performance without giving up refinement, the Cabrio offered a more expressive way to enjoy Jaguar’s supercharged flagship, with enough room for four and the relaxed manners expected of a luxury GT.
The 2002–2005 XKR Cabrio is powered by a supercharged 4.2-liter V8 producing 390 hp and 399 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic sends that power to the rear wheels, delivering 0–60 mph in 5.4 seconds and a 155-mph top speed. The combination of strong low-end torque and rear-wheel drive gives the convertible plenty of effortless pace while preserving its smooth touring character.
