The later XK8 Coupé refined Jaguar’s X100 formula rather than radically changing it. Its rounded proportions, long bonnet and compact cabin kept the car rooted in Jaguar’s classic grand-touring tradition, while the move to a larger V8 gave the facelifted model more effortless pace. Unlike the supercharged XKR, the XK8 focused on smooth delivery and quiet cruising, making it a more relaxed interpretation of the same elegant coupé shape. The 2+2 layout also preserved a degree of everyday versatility without compromising its GT character.
The 2002–2005 XK8 Coupé uses a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 producing 294 hp and 303 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 6.2 seconds and top speed reaching 155 mph. The larger engine brought stronger performance while retaining the refined, unhurried character that distinguished the XK8 from its supercharged XKR sibling.
