The CC 8S marked the moment Koenigsegg’s early concept became a genuinely formidable production supercar. Its removable roof panel gave the two-seat machine an open-air character, but beneath the minimalist bodywork was a rear-mid-engine layout and a supercharged V8 built around outright performance. The design was still relatively raw compared with later Koenigseggs, making the CC 8S an important glimpse of the engineering philosophy that would define the Swedish marque as its cars became increasingly extreme.
The 2002–2003 CC 8S uses a supercharged 4.7-liter V8 producing 655 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 3.4 seconds and top speed reaching 240 mph. Its combination of compact weight, rear-wheel drive and forced-induction V8 power gave Koenigsegg an extraordinary performance foundation for its first production generation.
