The CCX represented a significant step in Koenigsegg’s evolution from a young Swedish supercar maker into a serious global performance brand. Developed with international markets in mind, it introduced a larger engine and a more refined interpretation of the familiar CC silhouette while retaining the removable-roof concept and lightweight construction. The car’s low, wide stance concealed a remarkably purposeful layout, with the engine mounted behind the cabin and the rear wheels responsible for putting its considerable power onto the road.
For 2005–2010, the CCX uses a supercharged 4.8-liter V8 producing 806 hp and 678 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 3.2 seconds and top speed reaching 245 mph. The combination of a compact carbon-fiber structure, rear-wheel drive and supercharged V8 power established the CCX as a defining step in Koenigsegg’s early development.
