The diesel Actyon evolved into a more refined proposition for buyers who wanted SUV practicality without giving up the mechanical character of a traditional rear-driven vehicle. Its longitudinal engine placement and substantial low-speed torque make it better suited to relaxed, steady progress than quick acceleration, while the distinctive coupe-inspired roofline keeps its appearance unusual among compact SUVs of the period. The combination of a five-door body and conventional diesel powertrain gives it a distinctly different personality from contemporary car-based crossovers.
For 2009–2011, the 1,998 cc D20DT turbo-diesel produces 139 hp and 310 Nm of torque, with maximum pulling power available from 1,800 rpm. A five-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox was offered, and the 75-litre fuel tank supports longer journeys between refills. Rear-wheel drive completes a straightforward layout that prioritises conventional SUV engineering over the complexity of four-wheel drive.
