The 1987–1989 Alfa Romeo 33 1.7 Quadrifoglio Verde captures an especially charismatic side of Alfa Romeo’s compact hatchback. Its naturally aspirated 1.7-liter boxer-four sits beneath the hood of a lightweight five-door body, while twin carburetors and a five-speed manual give the QV a distinctly old-school sporting character.
With 118 PS and 147 Nm, the front-wheel-drive 33 QV could reach 100 km/h in around 9 seconds and continue to 196 km/h. Its combination of a low-mounted flat-four, modest 910-kg curb weight, and straightforward mechanical layout made it an engaging alternative to more conventional hot hatches of the late 1980s.
