2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005
MSRP:$2,500 – $5,500
The Korando E23 EL combines the compact proportions of a traditional off-road SUV with a Mercedes-derived four-cylinder petrol engine. Its short body and two-door layout give it a purposeful appearance, while the five-seat cabin and adjustable luggage space make it useful for everyday journeys as well as outdoor trips. The part-time four-wheel-drive system adds capability on loose or uneven surfaces, reflecting the Korando's practical off-road character rather than a road-only SUV design.
For 2000–2005, the naturally aspirated 2.3-litre inline-four produces 141 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Buyers could choose a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, both paired with the four-wheel-drive system. Its double-wishbone front suspension and live rear axle provide a traditional mechanical layout, while a listed top speed of 103 mph gives it adequate performance for regular road use.
