The MG TF 160 brought a sharper sporting edge to MG’s lightweight roadster, pairing revised styling and suspension with the most powerful engine in the TF range. Its compact two-seat body, low stance and open-top layout kept the focus on driver involvement, while the mid-engine configuration helped maintain balanced handling. Variable Valve Control technology distinguished the 160 from less powerful TF models, giving this range-topping version a more performance-oriented character without sacrificing the agility of a small British sports car.
The 2002–2011 MG F / TF 160 uses a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter inline-four producing 158 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 7.4 seconds and 0–62 mph taking 7.6 seconds. Top speed reaches 137 mph, while its 2,458-pound curb weight supports nimble handling and responsive acceleration. The result is a compact roadster built around high-revving performance and an engaging open-air driving experience.
