The McLaren 720S marked a major step forward for the Super Series, replacing the 650S with a car developed around greater aerodynamic efficiency, lower weight, and a more sophisticated interpretation of McLaren's performance philosophy. Its dramatic dihedral doors, slim lighting, deeply sculpted bodywork, and distinctive rear design give it an unmistakable presence, while the carbon-fibre MonoCell II structure forms the foundation for a car engineered to respond with exceptional precision. The 720S was designed to be more than simply faster than its predecessor, bringing together extreme capability and a level of road usability that helped define McLaren's modern supercar range.
For 2017–2023, the 720S uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 710 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. Its 7-speed transmission sends power to the rear wheels, while the two-seat coupe reaches 212 mph. A 2.8-second 0–60 mph time gives the 720S extraordinary acceleration, complemented by its double-wishbone suspension and lightweight 3,128-pound curb weight.
