The 1989–1990 Alfa Romeo 164 2.0i Turbo added forced-induction performance to Alfa Romeo's executive sedan lineup, using a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that produces 173 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, giving this four-door sedan a 140 mph top speed and a brisk 7.0-second 0–60 mph time. The DOHC 8-valve gasoline engine gives the 164 a distinctly different character from its naturally aspirated V6 siblings, with strong torque arriving at relatively low engine speed.
The turbocharged 164 also balances its performance with useful long-distance ability.
