The 2009–2012 Maserati Quattroporte GT S takes the elegant executive-sedan formula and gives it a much sharper performance edge. Its four-door, five-seat configuration retains the practicality expected of a luxury Maserati, while the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and naturally aspirated V8 create a distinctly sporting character. With its aggressive stance and wider performance-oriented hardware, the GT S stands apart from the more conventional Quattroporte versions of the same generation.
A 4.7-liter V8 develops 434 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque, sending power through a six-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. It reaches 174 mph and accelerates from 0–60 mph in 5.2 seconds, while double-wishbone suspension at both ends supports its performance-focused chassis. The combination of high-revving V8 power, rear-wheel drive and substantial four-door practicality makes the GT S an especially compelling example of Maserati's approach to blending grand touring comfort with serious performance.
