The 2012–2015 Lotus Exige S marked a major change in the Exige story, moving from the smaller four-cylinder formula to a supercharged V6 while preserving the lightweight, driver-focused philosophy at the heart of the car. Its compact two-seat coupe body, rear-mid engine placement, and rear-wheel-drive layout give it the proportions of a purpose-built sports machine rather than a conventional grand tourer. The result is an Exige that combines Lotus's emphasis on agility with a much stronger performance character.
The supercharged 3.5-liter V6 produces 345 hp and 295 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. With a curb weight of 2,593 lb, the Exige S reaches 170 mph and accelerates from 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds. The combination of a high-output V6, low mass, and rear-mid balance gives this generation a distinctly more muscular character while retaining the precise, focused driving experience associated with the Exige name.
