The Triumph Dolomite 1300 represents the straightforward, economical side of the Dolomite family. Its restrained styling, traditional four-door saloon body, and practical five-seat cabin reflect the priorities of a British family car designed for everyday motoring. Rather than offering the stronger performance of the larger-engined versions, the 1300 focuses on simple mechanical engineering and accessible road manners. Its front-mounted engine and rear-wheel-drive layout also preserve the conventional character of the period, giving this entry-level Dolomite its own place within the range.
For the 1976–1980 production range, the Dolomite 1300 uses a naturally aspirated 1.3-litre inline-four producing 58 hp at 5,500 rpm and 68 lb-ft of torque at 3,300 rpm. A four-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels. AutoSpecsHub records a top speed of 88 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 17.9 seconds. With a listed curb weight of 2,061 lbs, combined fuel economy of 26.6 mpg, and luggage capacity of 13.5 cubic feet, it is configured for practical everyday use rather than outright speed.
