1991–1992 Austin Montego 2.0 GSi, GTi Specs & Performance

The Montego 2.0 GSi, GTi sits toward the more performance-minded end of Austin’s family saloon range, using a fuel-injected 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four with 113 hp and 128 lb-ft. Power goes through a five-speed manual transmission to the front wheels, giving the four-door saloon a 115 mph top speed and an 8.9-second 0–60 mph time. The combination offered useful pace without moving away from the practical character of the Montego.

For 1991–1992, the GSi, GTi retained a spacious five-seat cabin and 18.4 ft³ of luggage capacity. MacPherson struts at the front and trailing-arm rear suspension formed the chassis, with disc front brakes and rear drums handling stopping duties. At 2,414 pounds, the car remained relatively light, while its transverse engine layout and electronic fuel injection reflected the more developed mechanical specification of this Montego variant.
