The 1996–1998 Lancia Ypsilon 1.4 brought a larger naturally aspirated engine to Lancia’s compact three-door hatchback. Its distinctive Italian styling, small dimensions and front-wheel-drive layout made it well suited to urban driving, while the four-seat cabin gave the Ypsilon a more personal character. The straightforward petrol engine complemented its compact proportions, creating a small car focused on everyday usability and distinctive Italian design.
The 1996–1998 Ypsilon 1.4 uses a naturally aspirated 1.4-liter inline-four producing 79 hp and 83 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 12.0 seconds and top speed reaching 106 mph. Its combination of compact dimensions, front-wheel drive and four-seat layout gave the Ypsilon 1.4 a practical foundation for everyday urban driving.
