The 1997–2000 Lancia Ypsilon 1.2 16v brought a lively four-cylinder petrol engine to Lancia’s compact hatchback range. Its small three-door body, distinctive Italian styling and front-wheel-drive layout made it well suited to urban driving, while the four-seat cabin gave the Ypsilon a more personal character. The naturally aspirated 16-valve engine complemented its compact proportions, creating a small car focused on everyday usability with a distinctive Lancia identity.
The 1997–2000 Ypsilon 1.2 16v uses a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter inline-four producing 85 hp and 83 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels, with 0–60 mph taking 10.5 seconds and top speed reaching 110 mph. Its combination of compact dimensions, front-wheel drive and four-seat layout gave the Ypsilon 1.2 16v a practical foundation for everyday urban driving.
