1999, 2000, 2001
MSRP:$3,500 – $8,000
The Saab 9-3 Cabrio 2.0t brought open-air driving to Saab’s compact 9-3 range, pairing restrained Scandinavian styling with the flexibility of a four-seat convertible. Its folding roof gave the car a relaxed touring character, while the clean bodywork and familiar front-wheel-drive layout kept it grounded in everyday usability. Rather than behaving like a dedicated sports car, the Cabrio balanced leisurely drives with practical features, offering room for passengers and enough luggage capacity for weekend outings. The turbocharged engine added useful performance, giving this convertible a more responsive character while preserving the comfort and versatility expected from a compact Saab.
For the 1999–2001 range, power came from a turbocharged 2.0-litre, 16-valve inline-four producing 152 hp at 5,500 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. Buyers could choose a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, both driving the front wheels. With a top speed of 130 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 8.5 seconds, the 9-3 Cabrio 2.0t offered accessible performance for open-road cruising. Its four-seat cabin and 10.4–13.3 cubic feet of luggage space added useful versatility for day trips and longer drives.
