The Saab 9-3 Cabrio 2.0t brought understated Scandinavian styling to open-top motoring, combining the familiar proportions of the 9-3 with the appeal of a folding-roof convertible. Its clean bodywork and four-seat cabin made it suitable for relaxed drives and everyday journeys, while the front-wheel-drive layout kept the mechanical package practical. Positioned below the more powerful Viggen, this version focused on accessible turbocharged performance rather than outright sporting aggression. It offered a distinctive alternative for drivers who wanted the flexibility of a convertible with Saab’s characteristic engineering-led approach.
For the 2001–2003 range, power came from a turbocharged 2.0-litre, 16-valve inline-four producing 148 hp at 5,500 rpm and 177 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm. A five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission sent power to the front wheels. With a reported 0–60 mph time of 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph, the Cabrio 2.0t delivered useful everyday performance without losing its relaxed convertible character. Its four-seat cabin and 10.4–13.3-cubic-foot luggage capacity added flexibility for regular driving and weekend trips.
