MSRP:$3,000 – $7,000
The Saab 9-3 2.0t combined understated Scandinavian styling with the everyday versatility of a five-door fastback. Its practical body offered space for passengers and luggage without the bulk of a larger family car, while the restrained exterior reflected Saab’s engineering-focused approach to design. The turbocharged petrol engine gave this version a responsive character suited to both urban driving and longer journeys. With front-wheel drive, a five-seat cabin, and a choice of manual or automatic transmission, the 9-3 2.0t balanced accessible performance with the comfort and practicality expected of a compact family car.
For the 2001–2002 range, power came from a turbocharged 2.0-litre, 16-valve inline-four producing 148 hp at 5,500 rpm and 177 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm. A five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission sent power to the front wheels. With a top speed of 134 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 8.5 seconds, the 9-3 2.0t offered useful acceleration without compromising everyday usability. Its five-seat layout and 17.4–31.7 cubic feet of luggage capacity made it a practical choice for commuting, family duties, and longer road trips.
