1998, 1999
MSRP:$3,000 – $7,000
The Saab 9-3 Cabrio 2.0 Turbo SE combined understated Scandinavian styling with the appeal of open-top motoring, offering a comfortable four-seat layout in a compact convertible. Its clean exterior and folding roof gave it a distinctive character without relying on excessive styling details. The cabin was designed for everyday usability, while the turbocharged engine added flexibility for overtaking and longer journeys. Rather than being an uncompromising sports car, the Turbo SE balanced relaxed convertible driving with the practical engineering and restrained personality associated with Saab.
For the 1998–1999 range, power came from a turbocharged 2.0-litre, 16-valve inline-four producing 182 hp at 5,500 rpm and 194 lb-ft of torque at 2,100 rpm. A five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission sent power to the front wheels. With a reported 0–60 mph time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 143 mph, the Cabrio 2.0 Turbo SE combined responsive acceleration with the relaxed character of open-top motoring. Its four-seat cabin and 10.4–13.3-cubic-foot luggage capacity made it practical enough for everyday use and weekend trips.
