The Rover 200 214 Cabriolet brought open-air motoring to Rover’s compact range, combining the familiar styling of the 200 series with a folding fabric roof and a practical two-door body. Its compact proportions, clean exterior lines, and understated British design gave it a relaxed touring character, while the four-seat cabin and separate luggage compartment preserved everyday usability. Unlike the fixed-roof 214 models, the Cabriolet offered an open-air driving experience without the size of a larger grand tourer. Its front-wheel-drive layout and manageable dimensions made it suitable for urban journeys and leisurely weekend drives.
For the 1993–1996 range, the Rover 200 214 Cabriolet used a naturally aspirated 1.4-litre DOHC 16-valve inline-four petrol engine producing 102 hp at 6,000 rpm and 94 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission delivered power to the front wheels. The listed chassis equipment includes MacPherson strut front suspension, double-wishbone rear suspension, ventilated front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes. With a listed top speed of 113 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 11.1 seconds, the Cabriolet balanced relaxed open-air driving with practical everyday performance.
