MSRP:$17,000 – $25,000
The 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2.8 CRD expanded the Wrangler formula without moving away from its rugged roots. Its four-door body and longer wheelbase brought greater practicality to a vehicle still built around traditional off-road hardware, while the diesel engine gave it a strong, torque-focused character. With part-time four-wheel drive and live axles front and rear, the Unlimited retained the mechanical simplicity and go-anywhere personality that made the Wrangler distinctive.
For 2007–2011, the Wrangler Unlimited 2.8 CRD uses a turbocharged 2.8-liter inline-four diesel producing 175 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque. Power reaches all four wheels through either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Its 112 mph top speed and 23.7 mpg combined economy balance performance with everyday usability, while the 116-inch wheelbase provides the added space expected from the Unlimited configuration.
