The 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2.8 CRD extended the Wrangler’s rugged formula into a practical five-door body while retaining the mechanical character expected from a traditional off-road Jeep. Its 116-inch wheelbase created more useful space for passengers and luggage, while live axles and part-time four-wheel drive kept the engineering focused on traction and durability. The turbocharged diesel gave the Unlimited a torque-focused personality, combining everyday practicality with the distinctive trail-ready character of the Wrangler.
For 2011–2018, the Wrangler Unlimited 2.8 CRD uses a turbocharged 2.8-liter inline-four diesel producing 197 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque. Power reaches all four wheels through either a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. It reaches 107 mph and accelerates from 0–60 mph in 10.7 seconds, while its 31.8 mpg combined economy gives the five-door diesel Wrangler an efficiency-focused character.
