The 3110-311 represents a more utilitarian side of the Volga story, with its familiar large-sedan shape backed by deliberately simple mechanical engineering. Its conservative design was matched by an old-fashioned powertrain, giving the car an unmistakably straightforward character. Rather than emphasizing refinement or technology, this version stayed focused on basic usability and the kind of uncomplicated construction that had long been associated with GAZ.
For 1999–2002, the 3110-311 used a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four producing 99 hp and 134 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual transmission drove the rear wheels, while the carbureted OHV engine kept the powertrain notably traditional. The modest output suited a relaxed driving style, making this Volga more about steady transportation than performance.
