The Volga 3110-311 represents a particularly traditional point in the later evolution of GAZ’s large sedan. Rather than introducing a sophisticated new character, this version stayed close to the brand’s established formula, with conservative styling and uncomplicated engineering. Its appeal lies in that straightforward approach: a substantial sedan designed around familiar mechanical principles, without trying to turn everyday transportation into something overly complex or performance-focused.
For 2002–2003, the 3110-311 used a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four producing 89 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual transmission sent power to the rear wheels, while the carbureted OHV engine kept the mechanical package notably simple. Those choices give this version a distinctly old-school character, reflecting the practical engineering philosophy that remained part of the Volga identity.
