The Volga 3102 had a distinctly formal character, reflecting an era when a large sedan was expected to look substantial and purposeful rather than sporty. Its upright proportions and restrained styling gave it a serious road presence, while the straightforward engineering underneath kept the car closely tied to GAZ’s traditional approach. Rather than trying to compete through flashy technology, the 3102 focused on delivering a familiar, durable large-sedan experience.
For 1995–2002, the 3102 used a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four producing 101 hp and 134 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed manual gearbox sent power to the rear wheels, giving the sedan a conventional mechanical layout that suited its character. The modest output was matched to an unhurried driving style, making the 3102 more about steady everyday travel than outright performance.
