The facelifted TT Roadster kept Audi’s distinctive rounded design while pairing it with a relatively modest turbocharged four-cylinder, creating an accessible entry point into open-top performance. Spanning 2005–2006, the 1.8 T 163 used a 1.8-liter 20-valve engine producing 161 hp and 166 lb-ft, driving the front wheels through a five-speed manual. Its 135-mph top speed and 7.9-second 0–60 mph time gave it enough pace for spirited road driving without changing the TT’s easygoing character.

The Roadster’s compact proportions and two-seat cabin emphasized its role as a lightweight leisure car rather than a grand tourer. MacPherson struts at the front, a torsion-beam rear setup and ventilated front brakes provided a straightforward chassis, while the 7.8-cubic-foot luggage area gave the small convertible some useful practicality.
