1999–2005 Audi AG TT Roadster 1.8 T quattro 225 Specs & Performance

Audi’s quattro system gave the original TT Roadster 1.8 T 225 a more purposeful personality, combining the car’s unusual styling with the traction of an on-demand all-wheel-drive system. The 1999–2005 version used a 1.8-liter 20-valve turbocharged four-cylinder producing 222 hp and 207 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. A 147-mph top speed and 6.5-second 0–60 mph time made it one of the stronger four-cylinder Roadster variants, while the compact two-seat layout kept the car distinctly sporting.

Behind the rounded bodywork was a technically interesting package for its class. MacPherson-strut front suspension worked with multi-link rear suspension, while ventilated discs were fitted at both ends. The Haldex-based quattro system could transfer drive rearward when additional traction was required, giving the front-engined Roadster greater confidence in changing conditions. Its 6.4-cubic-foot luggage area also made it more usable than its dramatic appearance might suggest, balancing everyday practicality with the character of a compact turbocharged performance car.
