1998–2005 Audi AG TT Coupé 1.8 T quattro 225 Specs & Performance

The TT Coupé 1.8 T quattro 225 added a stronger turbocharged engine and four-wheel traction to Audi’s radical new sports-car design, creating a version with considerably more mechanical substance than the entry-level models. The 1998–2005 car used a 1.8-liter 20-valve turbocharged inline-four producing 222 hp and 207 lb-ft, with quattro all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual. Its 147-mph top speed and 6.4-second 0–60 mph time gave the compact Coupé a serious performance edge.

Audi’s Haldex-based quattro system was particularly important to the car’s character, allowing the front-driven architecture to send torque rearward when additional traction was needed. MacPherson-strut front and multi-link rear suspension, ventilated discs and 225/45 ZR17 tires complemented the drivetrain, while the 2+2 cabin and flexible luggage space preserved everyday practicality. The combination of turbocharged power, six-speed gearing and all-wheel drive made the 225 one of the most capable four-cylinder versions of the original TT, without losing the design that made the Coupé instantly recognizable.
